Glory of our Salvation 6

6. THE CERTAINTY OF OUR SALVATION

The assurance of our salvation is valid from that moment that we accept Jesus in faith: "Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God." (John 1:12) Our perception of this fact increases as our faith grows stronger through our ongoing conversion. (Cp. Phil 3:12-16)
In Acts 13:48 we read: "All who were appointed for eternal life believed." Scripture speaks here of "all who were appointed for eternal life", not of the others. Therefore, if you believe in the Lord, you can be certain that you were appointed by God for eternal life. Paul declares that he is certain that the Thessalonians were chosen by God, because the gospel came to them with deep conviction. (1 Thes 1:4-10)
Similarly, we can know that we have a right relationship with God when we have accepted Christ Jesus as our Saviour. (Col 2:6,7) That is our proof that He has made us alive, we who were dead because of our transgressions and our sins. (Eph 2:1-5)
