4. THE MOMENT OF OUR SALVATION
The opportunity to repent and to receive forgiveness for our sins is a gift from God. (Acts 5:31) It is an indisputable fact that we receive this gift at the very moment we accept it. It is therefore obvious that we can only find salvation with certainty at that moment when we accept the reconciliation that God has achieved through Christ (2 Cor 5:18-20), the moment when we open our hearts to Him. (Rev. 3:20) Then we cross over from death to eternal life. (John 5:24) Immediately after Zacchaeus had climbed down from a sycamore tree, and joyfully received Jesus into his home and into his heart, Jesus said: "Today salvation has come to this house." (Luke 19:1-9) His salvation came at that very moment. It happens to each of us in exactly the same way. The moment we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord (Col 2:6,7) and Saviour (John 1:12), we are immediately saved. (Cp. 2 Cor 6:2)
